Queer Expression (QE) believes that joy is resistance. We position collectivism, solidarity, and joy as our foundational modes of resistance.
Queer Expression (QE) St. Pete is a volunteer-run collective that started in 2022 and as of 2024 has grown into a group of around 15 volunteers who maintain our physical community center and programming.
Our mission is rooted in pleasure activism: we view pleasure as an act of resistance, and believe that reclaiming joy is vital for overcoming the effects of systemic oppression. We create a space for individuals to reclaim their whole and happy selves and dream beyond subjugation. Pursuing this vision has opened us all to radical healing.
As a collective, we have refused to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, allowing us to prioritize mutual aid and radical healing over institutional norms. Solidarity is central to our work—we’re committed to building accessible, safe spaces for all members of the queer and trans community.
As a baseline, all of our events are donation-based: payment is never required. Everybody is always welcome regardless of their financial situation. Alongside this, many of our events are about resource-swapping, fueled by our prioritization of mutual aid.
