Camp QE

Camp Queer Expression is a week-long summer day camp for queer and trans youth that occurs at our local community center, The Nest. Session A (ages 10-14) is June 23-28 & Session B (ages 14-17) is July 21-26. This camp is donation-based with a recommended donation of $200-$500. No one turned away for lack of funds—if you are unable to donate anything, simply email queerexpressionstpete@gmail.com to let us know.

Camp QE was created in order to offer queer and trans youth a safe, accessible alternative to a traditional summer day camp. Here, youth are encouraged to embrace their uniqueness and step into their personal power. We encourage youth to create their own initiatives, make decisions, and express themselves free of expectation.

Camp QE is meant to be a rejuvenating, empowering, and liberating experience for queer and trans youth who may typically be ostracized or mistreated due to their identity or expression. There are 6 days of camp total for the 6 colors of the pride flag—each day’s themed activities correspond with its assigned color, with an emphasis on the fact that the pride flag is ever-evolving in order to properly honor systemically marginalized identities. Campers are encouraged to dress up according to the color of the day!

Along with daily activities based on the colors of the pride flag, campers will have time each day dedicated to a specific “camp elective,” where they will work collaboratively on creating a project to be exhibited on the last day of camp at a celebration with friends and family.
